Part-time Child-Care Support Staff
2nd Shift 3:00PM-11:15PM
Job description:
We are now hiring childcare support staff. Blessing House is a children’s crisis care facility in Lorain County that cares for children birth through age 12 when their families are experiencing a crisis. We are a faith based non-profit residential facility open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We are now taking applications for childcare support staff to work 2nd shift - 3:00PM to 11:15PM. This position requires some weekend availability and some holiday availability.

Knowledge:
Minimum – High School Diploma or GED Certificate
Experience:
Has had substantial involvement with children in personal, professional, or volunteer capacity
Professional skills:
Must be able to read instructions and job-related documents
Must be able to write and document notes regarding shift activities
Personal skills:
Full personal support of the mission of Blessing House
Loves caring for children
Compassionate and willing to listen
Ability to be flexible to meet the needs of each child
Good organizational skills – can multi task, making decisions and managing several issues simultaneously
Ability to work with others as part of a team
Must have ability to think and make decisions quickly, to anticipate needs
Has a pleasant, outgoing disposition and the ability to relate to individuals from a variety of life experiences
Physical requirements:
Must be able to lift children that weigh 40 pounds or less safely.
Requires extended periods of standing and walking.
Must be able to move quickly to be able to safely monitor children through sight and sound at all times
Areas of responsibility
1) Care of children including all aspects of personal care and hygiene
Assist with serving of meals and snacks
Planning and engaging in physical and developmental activities, including outside play, taking walks and interaction with the children
Providing assistance with homework
Managing behavior and providing safe environment
Documenting children’s activities and behavior
Communications with parents as directed by administrative staff
Follow schedule of facility
2) Housekeeping
Keeping toys and facilities clean and sanitized
Maintain facility in compliance with licensing regulations
Job Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must be able to pass a background check and not be listed on the national sex offender database.
Must pass First Aid and CPR certification courses every 2 years (Courses provided by Blessing House.)
Must complete any training or courses required to maintain employment.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
