Making Handprint Hearts

Our children love to fingerpaint and it is one of our staff’s favorite activities, too.  It is always so much fun to watch the reaction on their faces when they see what “pictures” they have made with their own hands.

On this particular day, the children were working on making handprint hearts.  Sometimes the end result was a little faint.  Sometimes a little crooked or out of line.  But as far as we were concerned, the picture they ended up with was always perfect.

The children leave their handprints on our wall and in our hearts.  At times, their stories are not easy to listen to, but we have found it doesn’t take much to make them smile and forget about the things that make them sad.

Life can be messy for them, but they too can find beauty in the vivid colors of their messiness.

They just need someone to help them find it.
